Retro Indie Market

Last weekend I participated in Retro Indie Market in Boynton Beach, FL.  It was amazing - I'm sorry to get around to posting this so late but I forgot to bring my camera and had to snag a few pics from their facebook page - I hope they don't mind.  Many of the pics in this post were taken by Starry Night Photography.

I was hoping to go with my cousin who just moved to Miami from Venezuela.  But she had to cancel and I ended up dragging my boyfriend John - who I don't thing was super excited to come at first because he had a ton of studying to do.  At the beginning of our day I really expected everything to be a disaster since I had originally expected to stay with my cousins in Miami overnight. Instead I had to wake up at 5:30am to pack up my car and drive three hours with only three hours of sleep.

At some point during the set-up I left the building to get stuff from the car.  When I came back I noticed a really crazy vibe.  Turns out the minute I left two of the vendors next to us got in a heated argument.  It looks like they solved the problem - but you could still feel the bad energy.  Lucky for us we quickly realized our neighbors behind us were Andrea and Paul from PaperSparrow.

I'd met both of them at a co-op we were both members of in Orlando but I'd never actually had the chance to sit down and talk with them.  They ended up being the coolest neighbors!  I really think the best part about participating in these craft shows is all of the people you meet!

My other nice neighbors Tiffany from Pumpkin Pye Boutique and Amy Lapi  were really sweet girls too.  Amy was wearing the cutest skirt - although I don't think I got a chance to compliment her on her outfit.

One of my favorite things about this show was the abundance of great food!  The cupcakes by House of Sweets Bakery were incredibly yummy!  The icing tasted a lot like Magnolia Bakery in NYC.  Toward the end of the day I started getting kind of hot and realized just a few booths from me was a popsicle vendor - FeverPopShop.  I picked up a mango popsicle and found out their popsicles are organic, local and with no artifical sweetners!  What more could I ask for?  Almost makes me want to move to Miami.

In the end the event was a complete hit!  I met tons of people - both customers and fellow artisans.  The organizers couldn't have done a better job.  I even met a few boutique owners.  I'll be participating in another show on April 9th - Odd Duck Bazaar in Fort Lauderdale.
